Teriyaki Canapes

Serves 24 - 1/2 ounce per serving

1 lb sirloin steak, all visible fat removed
2 tsp ground ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1 small onion, minced
1 Tbsp sugar
2 1/2 Tbsp sherry
1 Tbsp light soy sauce
1/8 tsp hot pepper oil
3 Tbsp water
1 Tbsp red wine

Cut steak into small cubes.


Combine remaining ingredients in a glass bowl. Add meat and stir
to coat well. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours, or preferably
overnight. Drain,reserving marinade.

Preheat broiler.

Place meat in single layer on broiler pan. Broil 1 inch from heat,
5 minutes on first side. Turn and broil 3 minutes more.

Meanwhile, place marinade in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Cook until thoroughly heated.

Remove meat from broiler and spear each cube with a toothpick.
Place meat cubes on a heated serving dish or in a chafing dish.
Pour hot marinade over meat.

Serve hot.
